Liquid Glucose/Corn Syrup: Liquid Glucose or Corn syrup is a colourless, odourless, viscous sweet syrup. This syrup is manufactured from refined starch. The starch is converted i.e. hydrolyzed by means of acid/enzymes. Liquid Glucose/Corn syrup have a range of conversion degrees from dextrose equivalent 28 to 50, depending on the applications of syrup. Applications: Choice of Glucose syrup will depend upon the actual requirements. Generally a low converted syrup acts as a bodying agent and high a converted syrup acts as a sweetening agent. Low Conversions: This syrup has a bodying effect and increases the viscosity and acts as a Humectant and is widely used for frozen dairy products. Intermediate Conversions: These syrups are used in beverage industry and frozen dairy products. In the confectionery industry it is used in sweets like toffees, caramels, gelating gums and chewing gums. Confectionery: Used in hard boiled candies, chewing gums & toffees etc. Pharmaceutical Industry: Liquid Glucose/Corn Syrup is used in the pharmaceutical industry in manufacturing of variety of cough syrup, antacid suspensions and other mixtures. Building & Cigarettes: Used in the curing of tobacco. Leather Industry: Liquid Glucose gives softness and weight gain to the leather in the process of tanning. Also used as a anticking agent is shoe polish.
